Conan & Dragonero #6 review

CONAN & DRAGONERO part 6 (of 7): The Demon from Tarantia (chapter one)

The ruins of Kuthchemes (from Black Colossus). Conan of Cimmeria and Ian Aranill reach the towering ivory dome of Thugra Khotan (the dark sorcerer who had reigned in Kuthchemes three thousand years ago). Outside the dome, the clan leader of the Cannibals (who is now a colossal demon, thanks to the wicked magic stored within the mystical jewels) grabs a snack and goes back into Thugra Khotan's mausoleum to devour it!

To save their imprisoned children from being consumed, the Cannibal women help Conan and Ian infiltrate the dome via an underground passage.

Dragonero skewers the clan leader, Conan decapitates the cannibal headman and our heroes repossess the stolen gems.

Conan and Ian travel to Khemi (Stygian port on the southern shore of the River Styx), into the Western Sea, up the Khorotas River to Aquilonia, and reach Tarantia... where a vortex has appeared in the firmament.

Conan and Ian discover that demons are slaughtering the terrified citizens of Tarantia.

To be concluded.

What I did like:

Archaeologist Jeffrey Shanks talks CROSSOVERS: Man of Two Worlds (a novel by Bryce Walton), Kings of the Night, Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melniboné, Roy Thomas & Barry Windsor-Smith's Kulan Gath and more.

An unused cover layout from Lorenzo Nuti showcasing Conan & Dragonero in action.

A new exclusive cover by Mirko Colak (El Borak: Curse of The Golden Calf)!

What I did not like:

Jeffrey Shanks fails to mention the Sherlock Holmes and Conan crossover: Roy Thomas's The Barbarian and the Super Sleuth (ISBN-13: 9780810996182)!

I give it a 10/10. The greatest CONAN & DRAGONERO mini-series ever produced is almost over! Do not miss this fantastic crossover made in Italy!

Transformers #28 (2023) review

Kirkman Kills The Transformers! Well, not all of them, yet! With Robert Kirkman’s Void Rivals having launched Skybound’s Energon Universe, he now takes the writing reins of the flagship Transformers comic series as well, with Dan Mora now on pencils and Mike Spicer still on colors. In this twenty-eighth issue, Megatron has a freakout, Arcee gets a promotion, Miles Mayhem tries his darndest to get a spin-off, and SOMEONE DIES. FOR REAL. PERMANENTLY. Whut-oh. Yeah, Kirkman finally gives in to his Walking Dead and Invincible pedigree and brings on the gore here, for both human and Transformer alike! After I felt like he was being remarkably restrained for his first three issues, he really goes for it here and it’s... I dunno... kind of on the nose, maybe? I guess he wanted to show that his run will be chock-full of consequences too, but I feel maybe his choice of victim was a little flawed and a real shame. The victim is a Transformers character that is known for getting the shaft usually...
