Spoilers! Spoilers!

We start with some poetry by Yrkonis.

King Kull of Valusia is in his court, sitting on the Topaz Throne, next to his brother from another mother, Brule the Spear-Slayer.

Jolanta of Elegaria manhandles the guards of Kull, she wants the King to help her find her missing sister (Nola) who is under the spell of a cult dedicated to a god of the sea (the cult of Piri'nach (an elder god of annihilation), the cult's emblem is an eye inside a flame). Jolanta saw a priest with a white skull visage... the sorcerer Thulsa Doom take her sister away.

Kull, Brule and Jolanta go to the cult's temple (recently magically teleported from beneath the ocean back to land) in the port city of Alimantos, they kill the sentinels and enter the slimy structure.

Wearing cyclopean breathing masks, three cultists drug the air of the temple with smoke, Kull overturns the brazier, Brule and Jolanta each kill a cultist, Kull keeps his cultist alive.

They see effigies of Piri'nach... an unblinking eye on top of a torso with tentacle limbs.

The captured cultist tells Kull that Nola is aboard the docked galleon: The Kraken's Eye.

In the Kraken's cargo hold, Kull and co. slay over sixteen scimitar swinging cultists, the rest of the cultists flee below.

Beneath the main deck, our heroes discover the giant green corpse of... Piri'nach.

Thulsa Doom killed the rest of his cultists and knocks Jolanta unconscious.

Thulsa Doom has reanimated the corpse of Piri'nach, its monstrous heart has now been replaced with... Nola. Thulsa Doom wants Kull to take Nola's place as Piri'nach's new, more potent ticker.

The undead Piri'nach attacks, Brule stabs the base of Piri'nach's eye with his spear, Piri'nach knocks Brule out.

Kull destroys the eye of Piri'nach with his sword. Piri'nach brings Kull close to its heart (Nola), Jolanta frees one of Kull's arms, Kull pulls at the blood vessels bounding Nola to Piri'nach, Kull extracts Nola from Piri'nach's thorax. Piri'nach dies once again. Thulsa Doom escapes.

The galleon is set on fire.

What I did like:

Kull of Atlantis RETURNS TO COMICS in 2027! The new series will be written by John Arcudi, illustrated by Mark Buckingham and coloured by Dave Stewart.

Aurochs mentioned.

What I did not like:

The editor is not doing his job.

The typos.

I give it an 8/10. About Twenty Thousand times better than a poke in the eye! This viscous story is sure to steal many hearts.

Oh, and TITAN BOOKS, don't forget, we still need a Heroic Legends Series version of Scott Oden's CONAN: THE DAY OF THE LION (with Oden's CONAN: UNCONQUERED as a free bonus)!

Transformers #28 (2023) review

Kirkman Kills The Transformers! Well, not all of them, yet! With Robert Kirkman’s Void Rivals having launched Skybound’s Energon Universe, he now takes the writing reins of the flagship Transformers comic series as well, with Dan Mora now on pencils and Mike Spicer still on colors. In this twenty-eighth issue, Megatron has a freakout, Arcee gets a promotion, Miles Mayhem tries his darndest to get a spin-off, and SOMEONE DIES. FOR REAL. PERMANENTLY. Whut-oh. Yeah, Kirkman finally gives in to his Walking Dead and Invincible pedigree and brings on the gore here, for both human and Transformer alike! After I felt like he was being remarkably restrained for his first three issues, he really goes for it here and it’s... I dunno... kind of on the nose, maybe? I guess he wanted to show that his run will be chock-full of consequences too, but I feel maybe his choice of victim was a little flawed and a real shame. The victim is a Transformers character that is known for getting the shaft usually...
