President Gaius (supreme leader of Ape City) sends Cornelius and Dr. Zira to jail.
The Red Ghost (Russian scientist Ivan Kragoff) entices unappreciated farmers to attack Ape City.
Dr. Zaius and General Ursus break Dr. Zira, Cornelius and The Fantastic Four out of prison. They decide to locate George Taylor (who grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana)'s sunken spaceship (The Icarus/Liberty 1).
Ben Grimm mentions Rabbi Lowenthal and quotes 1 Samuel 16:7 (But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.).
Johnny Storm enters Taylor's ship and stumbles upon the mummified corpse of Lieutenant Maryann Stewart.
The hot-headed General Ursus decides to go back (on his own) to Ape City, to defend it from the wrathful farmers.
Assisted by Miklho the gorilla Super-Ape, Doctor Doom intercepts General Ursus.
What I did like:
Julius appears!
Marvellous covers by Greg Land/Rachelle Rosenberg, Carlo Pagulayan/Jason Paz/Rain Beredo, Ron Frenz/Brett Breeding/Laura Martin and Davi Go!
What I did not like:
Needed more Minister Sabian, Astronaut George Taylor, Lucius and Nova. A lot more.
No smart aleck giant brains in jars aka The Inheritors. Very disappointing.
The unpublished scripts of Doug Moench: Forbidden Zone Prime, The Captive of the Canals, To meet the Makers and Derek Zane + Faron in Journey to the Planet of the Apes are still not adapted!
I give it a 9/10. The coolest crossover ever continues! Mego fans, if you are not reading this magnificent simian mini-series, you are missing out!
